Diplomatic immunity at intelligence’s service. Or vice versa?

The third meeting of the project Student Diplomatic Laboratory , titled “Diplomatic immunity at intelligence’s service. Or vice versa?” took place on June 7, 2018 in the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine.


Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine Sergiy Korsunsky gave an opening speech. He introduced the key speaker of the first half of the event, Viktor Hvozd. Mr Hvozd holds a PhD in Military Science, was a professional intelligence officer, and is a reserve lieutenant general. Viktor Hvozd shared his experience as an intelligence officer and presented his book “Military Intelligence of Ukraine at the Turn of the Millennium” – a retrospective view of the history of military intelligence and its place in Ukrainian state building.


In the second half of the event, the students presented their reports, followed by a general discussion.



Mariia Bohdanovska, from the Political Club of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, gave a presentation entitled “International Law and Espionage: Ignore or Regulate”.


Mykhailo Livariuk, from the Political Science Students’ Association of the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy,” highlighted the specifics of relations between diplomatic and intelligence activities in his report “Diplomat and Intelligence Officer: Unsteady Mutual Assistance?”.


New activities of the project “Student Diplomatic Laboratory” are scheduled for September – after the students’ summer vacations.
