H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Ukraine Mr. Salem Ahmed AlKaabi with his lecture on “UAE-Ukrainian bilateral relations. A brief overview of the humanitarian situation in the Republic of Yemen”
On June 27, 2018, Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy had the honor to host H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Ukraine Mr. Salem Ahmed AlKaabi with his lecture on “UAE-Ukrainian bilateral relations. A brief overview of the humanitarian situation in the Republic of Yemen”. The meeting was attended by Sergiy Korsunsky, the Director of the Diplomatic Academy and Myroslava Scherbatiuk, the Director of the Directorate General for the Middle East and Africa of the MFA of Ukraine.
In the first part of the lecture the Ambassador focused on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in all spheres and emphasized the role of the recent visit of President Petro Poroshenko, within which the Memorandum of Understanding on the Mutual Abolition of Visa Requirements, the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Culture, and the Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Space Exploration were signed.
The second part of the lecture was devoted to the humanitarian situation in the Republic of Yemen. H.E. Mr. Salem Al Kaabi presented in detail the actions of the Arab Coalition forces guided by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 according to which the only step to avoid a deteriorating situation in the city and surrounding areas is the complete, peaceful and unconditional withdrawal of the Houthis’ rebel forces from the city and port Al-Hudaydah.
At the same time, the Ambassador emphasized that the Arab Coalition had developed a comprehensive humanitarian plan aimed at diminishing negative consequences of the conflict.
After the lecture, there was a communication with the audience. The Ambassador answered numerous questions related to the topic.
