Each column of the exhibition represents a symbol of a Ukrainian city that has been targeted by russian missiles. The 15 pedestals are decorated with debris found in the ruins of buildings and notched plates symbolising the number of attacks on Ukrainian cities at the time of the exhibition’s creation.
The exhibition was opened by representatives of the project organisers: Dmytro Ivanov, CEO of Dobrobat, Volodymyr Kreidenko, people’s deputy of Ukraine and Dobrobat ambassador, Anna Pyshna, director of the Vladyslav Savchenko Charitable Foundation, representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Ukraine and the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, as well as Hennadii Nadolenko, director of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, and Myroslav Denys, first deputy director.
The creator of the exhibition is sculptor Ian-Pavlo Roman. The project was supported by Naftogaz Group.
Hennadii Nadolenko, Director of the Diplomatic Academy:
“For 896 days of the full-scale invasion, bombs and missiles have been falling on us, leaving scars on our bodies, our homes, our cities, our children and our memories. These scars will never fully heal, they will always be with us. And we must make sure that our children, great-grandchildren and future generations remember these scars, know and do not forget how we won our victory, our freedom and our will. We will never give this away to anyone.
‘Alley of Unyielding Cities’ is a tribute to the strength of spirit of those who remained faithful and devoted to their cities, a tribute to the memory of the war victims and a reminder that russian iron continues to fall on Ukrainian cities. And the war does not stop for a minute, and neither does our fight.”
