On May 27–28, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted online events within the framework of the special short-term training program “Strategic Communications and Public Diplomacy.”
The program was organized by the Center for Professional Training and brought together over 350 participants representing central executive authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Larisa Kompantseva, Head of the Department of Strategic Communications and Applied Linguistics at the Center for Strategic Communications of the Educational and Scientific Institute for Information Security and Strategic Communications of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, spoke about the development and implementation of Ukraine’s strategic communications during wartime.

Special attention was given to the linguistic aspects of forming state narratives. The session also explored the tools and tactics employed by the enemy in the context of the information war against Ukraine. This included an analysis of the historical development of the Russian Federation’s information and psychological operations.

Iryna Shum, Deputy Director of the Department of Public Diplomacy and Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Head of the Public Diplomacy and Image Projects Division, presented the MFA’s activities in the field of public diplomacy. She highlighted Ukrainian initiatives in the areas of education, art, cinema, gastronomy, and digital technologies.

The program provided participants with insights into modern information and communication concepts essential for diplomatic work and important for all members of Ukraine’s state apparatus to understand. Practical cases were examined, including successful initiatives and weak points in the informational dimension of Ukraine’s foreign policy.
