On 23-24 November the annual seminar was held at DAU, which covered the following topics:
- The Antarctic Treaty: the history of conclusion and the organization of implementation. Speaker – Dmytro Cheberkus, Representative of the Government of Ukraine at the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting, Head of the Ukrainian delegation (2017-2020).
- Ukrainians in Antarctica: from the first conquerors to the icebreaker “Noosphere”. Speaker – Evgen Dykyi, Director of the National Antarctic Scientific Center, Head of the Ukrainian delegation (2023).
- Challenges to the Antarctic Treaty System: the impact of russian aggression in Ukraine on the international legal regime of the region. Speaker – Andrii Fedchuk, Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the State Institution “National Antarctic Scientific Center”, Member of the Ukrainian delegation at the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (2007-2023).
- Marine living resources of Antarctica: practical aspects of ensuring Ukraine’s national interests in Antarctica. Speaker – Vitalii Tsymbaliuk, Counsellor at the Third Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Charge d’affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Chile (2020-2022), Chair of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR, 2023-2024).
