The presentation of the book “Ukraine and Germany in the European Community: History and Modernity” was held at the DAU. Some quotes from the speakers:
Hennadii Nadolenko:
“The appearance of the collection of articles “Ukraine and Germany in the European Community: History and Modernity” once again emphasizes the importance of Ukrainian-German relations, which, after the restoration of Ukraine’s independence and the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries, have acquired a strategic nature”.
Anatoliy Kinakh:
“In bilateral relations, we must pay important attention to “people’s diplomacy” – to strengthen joint formats of interaction between civil societies of both countries, to strengthen communication, informing about the real state of affairs, trends, intentions and moods in Ukraine and Germany. Especially in the context of Russian disinformation”.
Mustafa Dzhemilev:
“The 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Germany is an important date for the peoples of our countries. We are closely connected by common historical and cultural traditions, and we are working together to restore the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”.
Pavlo Hai-Nyzhnyk:
“Modern diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Germany actively developed in the twentieth century, when Ukraine was on its way to statehood. It was thanks to Germany’s pressure on the Ukrainian Central Rada that the independence of the Ukrainian People’s Republic was proclaimed”.
Ivan Myshchak:
“We must strengthen our cooperation in the scientific sphere in order to qualitatively position our state in Germany and change the negative narrative that Russia is actively promoting today. Through our joint projects with the Germans, we will prove that Ukraine is a reliable partner.”
Yaroslav Antoniuk:
“Ukraine and Germany have a long and complicated history. Over time, these pages of the common past have become overgrown with myths that historians must fight. Especially in this difficult time, when our country has a number of different challenges”.
The event was held within the framework of the DAU Intellectual Club and dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Germany.
The book is available in the library of the DAU.
