Sports Diplomacy | Specialized Training

The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine and ISAR Ednannia, held a specialized training on “Sports Diplomacy”.

During 5 days of training, the participants mastered a number of topics: 

  • Sports diplomacy in time of war. 
  • The value and importance of sports diplomacy in modern international relations. 
  • The structure of international sports cooperation.
  • Digital diplomacy and sports.
  • International sports policy.
  • Strategies of sports diplomacy.
  • Geopolitics in global sports governance.
  • Protection of interests and lobbying in sports organizations.

In addition, practical trainings were held in the following areas:

  • Negotiations in sports diplomacy.
  • The art of communication and working with the media.
  • Effective public speaking in international sports.

👤 Travis Smith, Strategic Communications, Programs and Culture Expert at the EU Delegation to the United States.

👤 Maryna Starodubska, Managing Partner of TLFRD Consulting Company, KMBS Professor.
