On March 20, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium jointly with the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, MEPs Rebecca Harms and Tunne Kelam MEP, think-tank Beyond the Horizon and Brussels International Center for Research and Human Rights – BIC organized a panel discussion on “Countering hybrid threats to Europe”.
Ph.D. Olena Snihyr, leading expert of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, was a representative from Ukraine. She provided information on the situation in Crimea in security, legal and humanitarian dimensions. The Ukrainian expert warned of Russia’s threat to the whole of the Mediterranean through increased military presence on the peninsula over the last 5 years. She also noted the danger of the closed sea among other influential international actors and the inadmissibility of the transformation of Russian practice of keeping foreign (Ukrainian) hostages into a routine instrument of international politics.
Participants of the panel discussed the issues of cyber-threats, propaganda, disinformation, and hybrid war of Russia.
