The first ever online tour to Chornobyl in English was organized by DAU and GAMMA Travel

Today Diplomatic academy of Ukraine and GAMMA Travel organized the first ever online tour to Chornobyl in English.

On April 26, 2021, Ukraine will mark the 35th anniversary of the Chornobyl accident, which took the lives of many Ukrainians and damaged the health of thousands of innocent people.

In commemoration of that tragic event today, the DIplomatic academy of Ukraine and the Ukrainian tourism company GAMMA Travel organized the first ever online tour to Chornobyl, which was done in English.

We showed how the post-apocalyptic world looks after 35 years of abandoning and how fast nature is taking over afterwards during the tour.

For 90 minutes participants from all over the world had been watching the live stream from the key locations of the closed Chornobyl zone: the town of Chornobyl itself, the main square of the town of Chornobyl/memorial “The Wormwood Star”; the industrial site of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant with New Safe Confinement (“Arch”); Soviet over-the-horizon radar (OTH) system Duga, and the ghost town Prypiat.

Four professional guides from four different locations on the ground took the viewers back to the Soviet times that does not exist anymore. And, they had shown to people from all over the world how the worst technological disaster of the XXth century influenced Ukraine and the world.

Diplomatic academy of Ukraine thankful to our e-tour partner GAMMA TRAVEL, the guides, operators, and moderators for their valuable contribution!

Special thanks to all participants who joined us today. If you couldn`t join us today during the live event, you can watch it online here
