The round-table «U.S.-Ukraine relations: Agenda for 2020»

The round-table «U.S.-Ukraine relations: Agenda for 2020» was held at the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on September 12, 2019.

The event was organized in partnership with the 16th Annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES). The members of the Washington-based Friends of Ukraine Network (FOUN) discussed with the round-table participants FOUN’s draft recommendations to the U.S. Congress and U.S. Administration regarding the U.S. assistance to Ukraine.

Ambassador Sergiy Korsunsky, director of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, Ambassador William Taylor, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Kyiv, and Mr. Pat Cox, member of the YES Board and President of the European Parliament (2002-2004), addressed the audience with their welcoming remarks.


The Friends of Ukraine Network was represented by:

 Dr. Anders Aslund – resident senior fellow in the Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council;

 General (ret.) Philip Breedlove, USAF(r), 17th Supreme Allied Commander Europe;

 Dr. Edward Chaw – senior associate in the Energy and National Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies;

 Ambassador John Herbst – director of the Atlantic Council’s Eurasia Center, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine in 2013-2016;

 Mrs. Nadia McConnell – president and co-founder of the US-Ukraine Foundation;

 Ambassador Roman Popadiuk – chairman of the board of the US-Ukraine Foundation, Ambassador to Ukraine in 1992-1993;

 Ambassador Alexander Vershbow – distinguished fellow at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, deputy secretary-general of NATO in 2012-2016.
