On 10 June, the DAU hosted the opening session of a short-term training programme entitled Communication and Presentation Skills in the European Union, intended for Ukrainian civil servants. The training is being conducted in English.
The lecturer of the programme is Märt Volmer, Estonian diplomat, consultant and coach specialising in EU and international affairs; Executive board member at VTX Management OÜ.
The first day of the training was devoted to discussing the basics of communication theory and the specifics of cross-cultural communications in the European Union. Specifically, among the topics covered were theoretical approaches to conducting negotiations, ways of building trust, avoiding conflicts and achieving compromises within the framework of the negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
The programme is grounded in Richard Lewis's Communication Theory, enriched by practical examples for clarity and application in the context of cultural dimension of communications in the EU.
