On 9 July, a working meeting was held between representatives of the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States of America, Arizona State University, and the McCain Institute.

The Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine was represented by its Director, Ihor Ostash, and the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Kateryna Sydorenko. The Embassy of Ukraine in the USA was represented at the meeting by Minister-Counsellor Denys Sienik and Consultant Dariia Haidai. The discussion was also joined by the Vice President for Global Strategy and Engagement at Arizona State University, Kristin Lord, and the Chief Programs Officer of the McCain Institute, Ambassador Cindy Dyer, who coordinates the design and implementation of the Institute's programmes in the areas of the protection of human rights and freedoms, democratic development, and leadership.

The main focus of the meeting was the establishment of an institutional partnership between the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, Arizona State University, and the McCain Institute.

The participants discussed prospective areas of cooperation, in particular the possibility of engaging Arizona State University professors and McCain Institute professors in teaching specific disciplines or academic modules within the Master's programme of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, the launch of specialised short-term courses and training programmes for the Academy's trainees, and the participation of the DAU's faculty and students in the academic, educational, and professional initiatives of the partner institutions.
