On October 2–3, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted an online course in English titled “Global Economic Development Trends,” organized by the Professional Training Center for representatives of central executive authorities.

 The lecturer was Professor Meelis Kitsing, Rector and Professor of Political Economy at the Estonian Business School. In his lectures, he explored the key processes shaping today’s global economy — from technological innovation and artificial intelligence to climate challenges and the transformation of global markets.

Participants showed particular interest in discussions on:

• the role of China in the global economy and the challenges of India’s energy transition;
  
  

• the restructuring of international production chains and the impact of the European Green Deal on regional economies;
  
  

• the dynamics of digital transformation and the regulation of large online platforms.

Special attention was given to forecasting methods. Professor Kitsing emphasized that in times of uncertainty, traditional approaches are not always effective. Instead, scenario planning proves to be more productive, as it allows for the consideration of multiple possible development trajectories.

The course provided participants not only with new knowledge but also with an opportunity to view global processes from a fresh perspective — critically, flexibly, and creatively.
