On September 1-2, 2026, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted an English-language training seminar under the special short-term program “Energy and Climate Diplomacy” for civil servants of central executive bodies and diplomatic staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The training was conducted by Javad Keypour, a lecturer at the Department of Law of the School of Business and Management of Tallinn University of Technology.

During the two days, key issues of modern energy and climate diplomacy were covered. In particular, the strategic principles of global energy geopolitics, the main state and non-state actors, as well as international institutions that influence the formation of the modern energy agenda were discussed.

A separate training block was devoted to climate diplomacy - from the provisions of the Paris Agreement to the functioning of emissions trading systems (ETS) and their role in modern climate policy.

The participants focused in detail on the energy and climate policy of the European Union. In this context, they discussed the integration of Ukraine into the European energy space and the diplomatic aspects of this process. The participants of the seminar discussed both the basic concepts of energy and climate diplomacy, as well as current issues and practical challenges that Ukraine is already working with in the field of energy and climate diplomacy.
