Meeting of representatives of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine with the Diplomatic Institute of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Camões Institute – Institute for Cooperation and the Portuguese Language

On 27 May, a working meeting was held in Lisbon between representatives of the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diplomatic Institute of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Institute for Cooperation and the Portuguese Language. 

The meeting was attended by Ana Paula Zacarias, Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mafalda Gomes, Head of the Center for Research and Strategic Analysis at the Diplomatic Institute; Graça Costa Macedo, Head of the Training Center; Head of the Archives and Library Department Manuela Ferreira, Advisor on Ukraine at the Diplomatic Institute David Cristóstomo, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Camões Institute Joaquim Coelho Ramos, Maryna Mykhailenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Portugal, and Kateryna Sydorenko, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for developing cooperation in the fields of diplomatic education, professional training for diplomats, scientific research, archival work, cultural diplomacy, and language training.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation with the Diplomatic Institute of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically the organization of a joint exhibition of archival documents in collaboration with the Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal, the holding of international conferences, the development of joint training courses for diplomats, and the conduct of research on cooperation between Ukraine and Portugal.

As part of the dialogue with the Camões Institute, the parties also discussed opportunities to involve native Portuguese speakers in teaching at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, as well as the participation of DAU faculty in programs aimed at studying and promoting the Ukrainian language.

The meeting marked an important step in deepening Ukrainian-Portuguese institutional cooperation and opened new opportunities for the development of diplomatic education, intercultural dialogue, and academic partnership between Ukraine and Portugal.
