On June 4, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted a thematic event titled “China under the Leadership of Xi Jinping” as part of the DAU Intellectual Club and in cooperation with the Ukrainian Club of Montreal (Club Ukrainien de Montréal).
The guest speaker was Jean-François Lépine, a prominent Canadian journalist, former diplomat, geopolitical consultant, and recipient of the Orders of Canada and Quebec. From 2015 to 2021, Mr. Lépine headed Quebec’s governmental offices in China (Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen), and earlier served as a senior international correspondent for Radio-Canada in Paris, Beijing, and Jerusalem.
In his presentation, Jean-François Lépine explored China’s role and position in the global landscape, outlining key challenges and prospects for the country's development. He also analyzed current trends in China’s domestic and foreign policy.
The Canadian expert’s presentation sparked a lively discussion among participants on China’s influence on global economic development and international security.
The event was attended by Ukrainian diplomats, experts, and scholars.
