Diplomatic Academy Concludes First Week of Training Course for Diplomats Preparing for Rotation to Political Posts in Foreign Diplomatic Missions

The first week of the specialized professional training course for employees undertaking internships as part of rotation to political positions in Ukraine’s foreign diplomatic missions has concluded at the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine. Effective diplomatic activity requires not only a thorough understanding of international processes, but also the ability to quickly navigate a complex geopolitical environment and make well-informed decisions.

This training module focused on key contemporary political issues and practical aspects of foreign policy implementation, including:

  • Priorities and objectives of Ukraine’s foreign policy;

  • Trends in modern global politics;

  • China’s foreign policy priorities;

  • European integration;

  • U.S. foreign policy priorities;

  • Preparation and conclusion of international treaties;

Cooperation within international organizations.The invited experts shared their extensive professional experience and practical case studies with the participants:

  • Heorhii Tolkachov, Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the Political Planning Division of the Political Department;
  • Hanna Shelest, PhD in Political Science, Director of Security Studies Program, Editor-in-Chief of UA: Ukraine Analytica, Chair of the Board of the NGO “Promotion of Intercultural Cooperation”;
  • Dmytro Yefremov, Expert of the Ukrainian Association of Sinologists, Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy;
  • Oleksii Lutskevych, Head of the Negotiation Coordination Division of the European Union Department;
  • Margarita Aristova, Deputy Head of Division – Head of the Political and Security Affairs Unit of the USA and Canada Division;
  • Oleksandr Braiko, Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the International Treaties Division of the Department of International Law and Legal Counteraction to Aggression;
  • Serhii Dvornyk, Director of the Department of International Organizations.

The knowledge and practical skills gained during the course will contribute to strengthening the professional capacity of diplomats, enhancing their readiness to effectively represent Ukraine’s interests abroad and respond promptly to global challenges, ensuring effective international engagement and reinforcing the country’s position on the global stage.
