On June 10-11, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted an online seminar “State Policy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine. Psychosocial Support for War Veterans.”
Lectures for the audience were delivered by Ulyana Pcholkina, a Ukrainian public figure, an expert on barrier-free environment, correct communication, and an inclusive environment; Olga Novikova, a professor, Doctor of Philology, a member of the National Commission on State Language Standards; and Olena Kudermina, a Doctor of Psychological Sciences, a professor at the Department of Legal Psychology of the National Academy of Internal Affairs.
The seminar was attended by employees of foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine and the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Over the course of two days, the seminar participants discussed key issues of state policy for creating a barrier-free environment in Ukraine, in particular the importance of equal access to services, information, and full participation of citizens in public life.
Special attention was paid to psychosocial support for war veterans as a component of a barrier-free society. The sessions also addressed issues of barrier-free communication, correct terminology, and an inclusive environment.
