Ihor Ostash, Director of the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, held a meeting with Nataliia Khanenko-Friesen, Director of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies.

The parties identified areas of cooperation between the institutions in interdisciplinary projects, educational programmes and scientific research, and discussed support for Ukrainian studies and strengthening its role in the international academic community.

The focus was on the development of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, initiated by First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, as a platform for coordinating the work of leading academic centres in the study of Ukraine, its history, culture and contemporary socio-political processes.

Special attention was given to preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies in October, which will provide an opportunity to assess achievements and outline new prospects for the development of Ukrainian studies.

Discussions also covered academic mobility, support for young scholars, the exchange of experience and the creation of platforms for professional collaboration. Emphasis was placed on the importance of academic diplomacy as a tool for strengthening international support for Ukraine.
