On 16 April, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine hosted the public launch of the Headquarters of the Ukrainian Youth Worldwide, an initiative designed to unite Ukrainian youth in Ukraine and abroad and to initiate a structured dialogue on their role in the country’s development.
The event brought together representatives of state bodies, the diplomatic corps, international organisations and youth leaders, creating a space for meaningful discussion about Ukraine’s future through the prism of human capital, international presence and recovery.
In his welcoming speech, Ihor Ostash, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, emphasised:
“It is particularly pleasing that the Diplomatic Academy is becoming the epicentre of an event dedicated to Ukrainian youth. After all, it is here that a new driving force for change, victory and the reconstruction of Ukraine must be forged.”
The head of the Diplomatic Academy stressed that the launch of the Headquarters is not merely a symbolic event, but the start of long-term work:
“Today’s event is not just an opening. It is the beginning of a systematic discussion about young people as the state’s strategic capital, which shapes Ukraine’s internal resilience and its international agency and influence.”
Particular attention was paid to the global dimension of Ukrainian youth. According to various estimates, between 1.5 and 2 million young Ukrainians are living abroad, whilst an active network of over 30 youth organisations has already been established in more than 20 countries worldwide.
During the event, the vision, structure and key areas of activity of the Headquarters were presented, and an interactive ‘country exhibition’ was organised, where participants were able to learn about the activities of Ukrainian youth organisations from around the world and discuss opportunities for cooperation.
Particular emphasis was also placed on the issue of young people returning after the war:
“Everyone who returns to Ukraine with new knowledge and experience becomes an active participant in the reconstruction – in society, the economy, culture and diplomacy.”
Concluding his speech, the Director emphasised the Academy’s openness to such initiatives:
“The Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine will always remain a platform where ideas are transformed into policies and practical solutions. By investing in young people, we are investing in a successful future for Ukraine.”
